Preston Road Station, 23:48

This spur-of-the-moment series was shot on one of the Tube stations in London in 2021. 

 

I enjoy exploring liminal places where people spend a tiny, yet quite a large part of their daily lives. At night, such spaces remind me of a theatre stage just before the next show: the lights are already on, the set is prepared, and all is ready
for the main characters to emerge. It’s these moments of somewhat eerie quietness that draw me to observe the scene
in more detail, inventing a storyline that might or might not eventually happen.
I took these photos using a lens that has slight distortions. At the time I didn't realise this, but these distortions added another layer of uneasiness and uncertainty to the series.
